Mentoring and Coaching
At the Djanogly City Academy Sixth Form, we recognise the challenges that you will face during your studies.
To support you during these periods we run a teacher led academic mentoring and coaching programme that focusses on developing your Vision, Effort, Systems, Practice and Attitude (VESPA) – learning characteristics that are key to your success.
Mentoring:
The aim of academic mentoring is to instruct the student, answer questions and provide advice and guidance. Mentoring is often more effective for students with a lower prior attainment as it provides the solutions to challenges you may face.
Coaching:
The aim of academic coaching is to increases self-awareness and encourage the student to self-reflect on their own learning, whilst discovering resolutions to problems with academic learning. Coaching is often more effective for students with a higher prior attainment who already know how but require support with implementing the most effective strategies.
